Taint

Category
The Wyrm Taint stat represents the amount of influence the Wyrm has over the character. Whether you know it or not, intentional or not, your actions have opened the path for the Wyrm to creep into your heart. It is the measure by which one determines how far gone a character is regarding his descent into the Wyrm's embrace.
System
Hierarchy of Wyrm Corruption (for Garou) Minimum Wrongdoing: If these actions occur, Garou with Gnosis levels at or higher than the indicated level must make a Taint roll. 10 -- Accidentally breaking a Litany law. 9 -- Purposefully breaking a Litany law; refusing a rightful challenge. 8 -- Refusing to acknowledge loss of a challenge (lack of instinct); teaching the Ways (Rites, Gifts) to Wyrm minions (including vampires); stealing Gnosis from a non-Wyrm spirit who is not allied to the Garou. 7 -- Unjustly killing another Garou; betraying a Garou to Wyrm minions; stealing Gnosis from a spirit allied to the Garou. 6 -- Binding or trafficking with spirits for evil purpose; stealing Gnosis from Banes. 5 -- Destroying a natural place (harming Gaia); causing a blight to grow or fester. 4 -- Allying with Wyrm minions (including vampires). 3 -- Cannibalism (human, wolf, or Garou); sadism and perversion (Black Spiral virtues). 2 -- Warring against any of the tribes. 1 -- Destroying a caern. Failure means target gains a point of Wyrm Taint. Botch means the target gains a derangement and a point of Wyrm taint. Entering a Thrall of the Wyrm is cause for automatic gain of one point of Wyrm Taint. Notes: Modified for use on DM to simulate Wyrm corruption. Ronin find it more difficult to avoid becoming tainted.
