Quiet Burial

punishment
Used on offenders who are judged to require some time alone to contemplate their misdeeds. The subject is bound with white cord, the sigil for 'silence' painted on his forehead. He is then lowered into a prepared pit, offenses written on a piece of bark and thrown onto his chest while intoning the infraction to the four winds. Once complete, all present fill in the grave. If the rite is successful, the subject will not need to eat, breathe, or drink for the duration (usually sunset to sunrise). He must make three successive difficulty 8 Willpower rolls or lose a permanent point of Willpower from the harrowing experience. If any of the rolls are botched, he goes temporarily insane. When the duration ends, the subject is exhumed and all is forgiven.
System
The ritemaster rolls Charisma + Rituals; if it fails, she'll know immediately. Usually this results in immediate exhumation, under the assumption the Emerald Mother has deemed the punishment too strict.
